The sunset of summer 2014

The first mate has resisted well her temptation to post sunset photos - only now she could not help...

The days in Borgholm become something like in mediterranean that of course I have not visited; it was so hot that one could mostly only concentrate managing the temperature. This made me re-iterate the dream about long sailing in Med and start dreaming destination like Lofotes...

It is worth of mentioning that I am very pleased how the captain has performed during the week; he has attended me very well and arranged new facilities for me. The first mate's performance has left room for improvement, she has been mostly been occupied by her non-nautical duties. Notes for the the crew's annual review...

The long period of temperatures over 25C resulted in thunderstorms. We managed to find a weather window to escape back to Kalmar in sunshine.

Encounter

She got scared and crawled down below, to her vessel. I waited her but she never came back.
Her lovely green eyes...

Kalmar in the morning sun

Äntligen - Finally

Oh, finally the captain realized that there is no reason why I could not
chill on the spray hood... I believe to continuing heat wave has softened him. I feel gooooood...

Roadtrip practices and safety

I think I can now state that I have become a solid road traveller too. I cannot say that it is my favorite activity but the perks are good: The longer the trip more stops and outings in interesting new spots.

Blaah, a road trip can be boring too...

Safety first. As a chief of the vessel the safety is first consideration to me, also in the car. I have my travel compartment that I bring with me to the car. I have also the safety belt. Its the red harness in the pictures.

My routine is that I start my travel in the travel compartment that is attached to the car with a human safety belt on the back seat. I keep also the first mate on the back seat, to attend me. After relaxing for one hour or something I usually give vocal notice or poke the first mate's arm with my paw to announce that I would like to see were the car is at. Of course I know the location since I have the sophisticated internal navigation system standard to felines but still I like to get some visuals. When I come out from my travel compartment I always wear my safety belt. Then I spend some time on the first mate's lap and once I am done I go back to my travel compartment, wearing my seatbelt. When the we approach interesting cities I usually come back and check out the views.  Or sometimes I just relax on the first mate's lap. Later in the afternoon I just want to have a nap.

What happens here? I sit on the first mate's lap under the coffee
table and enjoy some cool air from the ventilation.

Here some pics from the ride between Stockholm and Kalmar.

Soon the local farmer has use for her harvester.
Some day I will sail this canal...
Boats on a field? No, they are cruising Göta kanal!

What are you wearing today?

Or maybe more accurate question is that why I am wearing clothes?

In the news there was recommendation for the dogs to keep their coats wet to manage it in this abnormal heatwave. Fortunately, the first mate did not implement this instruction on me but rather tried to cover me with some washed and still moist clothes. First I was thinking what the heck this is about but very soon I noticed the cooling effect and enjoyed it.

2nd leg of our trip to the Vessel

Too hot

I am an individual with genetics developed in sub-arctic climates. More than two weeks in over 25C weather was just too much for me; one could just lay on his back and try to manage the temperature.

So I decided that it is time to command the crew to travel to the vessel. Off we went.
