This is what the crew calls Räksmörgås

Smoked salmon salad had the first mate ingredients: Avocado,
beans and veggies.
Do visit Villa Lavendel in Borgholm. Great food, welcoming atmosphere.

The sunset of summer 2014

The first mate has resisted well her temptation to post sunset photos - only now she could not help...

The days in Borgholm become something like in mediterranean that of course I have not visited; it was so hot that one could mostly only concentrate managing the temperature. This made me re-iterate the dream about long sailing in Med and start dreaming destination like Lofotes...

It is worth of mentioning that I am very pleased how the captain has performed during the week; he has attended me very well and arranged new facilities for me. The first mate's performance has left room for improvement, she has been mostly been occupied by her non-nautical duties. Notes for the the crew's annual review...

The long period of temperatures over 25C resulted in thunderstorms. We managed to find a weather window to escape back to Kalmar in sunshine.

Encounter

She got scared and crawled down below, to her vessel. I waited her but she never came back.
Her lovely green eyes...

Äntligen - Finally

Oh, finally the captain realized that there is no reason why I could not
chill on the spray hood... I believe to continuing heat wave has softened him. I feel gooooood...

One night in Borgholm - Part 2

This was best ever night for watching the birds. Swimming - many kinds of ducks, flying - many kind of  sea gulls. Oh my marina! My breath was fast, my heart was pounding, I had to crawl and flatten myself to the hunting position... But like said, I had to continue down below as the crew sails the days and does not sleep to be ready for nightly bird watching.

One night in Borgholm - Part 1

I had to interrupt ornithological session outside and move down below to continue
as the captain started falling asleep and could not attend me any longer, too bad...
PS Look at my strong shoulders.

Wonder forest in Borgholm

Our visit to Borgholm was not that long we expected; once the keel starts touching the ground in a marina it is time for deeper waters. However there was excitement in the air in the morning - the crew's morning jogging entered the trails to the Borgholm castle and to the king's summer residence - and oh that amount of ah and oh, the childhood's story book forests were suddenly totally here, true and touchable. I expect the first mate will come up with some poetic posts about the dog roses large like trees, the rays of the sun piercing the green of the noble trees, the birds of various kinds singing and chanting the way of the wanderer...

At the sea!

After two and half days of work in 25C we were ready to set the sail and go! Brisk tail wind took us to Borgholm, more about it later.
