Hello Sweden!

We crossed the Kvarken and are in Sweden! We said goodbye to our lovely temp home marina Mustakari on Saturday and spent the night in Tankar. Valassaaret was our next stop, we spent a day there and made an early start to reach Swedish coast yesterday noon. I will tell you in more detail about the sailing and the islands in the upcoming posts. To manage your expectations I have to tell that even Valassaaret means the whale islands I did not make any whale observations. (But I do have friends who have opportunity to do orca whale observations in their close neighborhood!)

The Adventure has started!

I have now the crew in my use and the sailing has started. The crew is somewhat incapacitated by the excitement but I stay focused and keep everything under control.

I will post our whereabouts in few days.

Our temporary home marina - Part 2

Mustakari might be one of the most beautiful marinas there is during day time
but the sunsets are nothing but magical.

Counting days

This is last week for the crew in their daily non-sea activity and they will be in my service 24/7 for few upcoming weeks.

I have waited for this - to have the crew available and start the sailing.

My favorite new vantage point in the cockpit. I can see but I cannot be seen ;-)

Exercising in the Vessel

A reader has inquired how do I take care of my physique in the vessel circumstances. Here I want to share an example of my activities. In the pics I train with my "cat-o-pipe" and "beeb-beeb-birdie".

Prowling...

Go!

Some air!

For crew I do not recommend this kind of demanding exercises. Their limited capabilities can be improved with a set like this; it could be performed even in limited space down below:

I have met a colleague!

As we arrived at Mustakari for the weekend I met a sea cat colleague, Jussi. We both were a bit shy and I believe this kind of rare event may confuse even the most seasoned seagoers. Jussi is a sacred birman and leads this super-beautiful vessel. I hope my photographer gets a shot of Jussi himself so that I can share it with you. Meanwhile you can admire his ship!

Celebrating Siikli

The new crop of local potato is here! King of them is Siikli. Boiling it carefully with sea salt, butter and tons of dill makes a treat that is on par any international delicacy.

Our idyllic temporary home marina

Can it be more beautiful? The sunny July afternoon.

Status Update - The work on the vessel is done!

Sailing and sailing to Tankar - the crew's favorite activity. I do not mind either.

All the work on the vessel is now done and she is ready for new adventures - we left the boat yard on Saturday and have now temporary home at Kokkola before starting the adventure of the Summer 2013 in August.

If you ever need high quality winterization services or any work done on your vessel I warmly recommend Yxpila Boat Yard, check their site here
