Night shift

I am super tired today as could not start sleeping until 4 a.m. And I should have stayed awake even later. The reason was that the last night was my vessel's turn to take care of the night guard duty in the home marina. I was thrilled to help the crew in the task, to stay outdoors till midnight and look after everything.

Annual rose competition

The first mate has an annual routine of the Ainola park rose competition; she selects her favorite rose.

 The purpose of this to alleviate the symptoms of returning to the land, leaving the life at sea. To my experience the competition goes like this: For several weeks she checks out the roses on her way through the park. She considers carefully. In the end she decides that "Summer lady" is her favorite and the loveliest of the roses. 

I will report if the competition takes different course this year...

Festival of Light

Its raining and the snow is gone. I hope we get it back for Xmas.

I wanted to relax on Sunday and sent the crew to check out the Festival of Light that was part of the Xmas season kick-off in Oulu city.

The snow is here to stay this time I hope!

October Storm

The Snow is here!

Last night we got the snow that has stayed all the day. How could the crew sleep until 8 am in this kind of important morning? How ignorant of them... The snow inspired the first mate to start think about Xmas. I believe this year too I have to post some Xmas preparation and decoration stuff to keep her happy. 

I will return to the mountain weekend when I have finished posting about the last legs from Kalmar to Oulu; some more train traveling and returning to Mustakari marina where it all started.
