Fluffiness 5/5

Moonlight activity

Yesterday evening the skies opened as the temperature started to decrease. My visit outdoors was quite short but the captain got exited... See the pics below.

Merry Xmas! Hyvää Joulua!

A lot of activity still this morning. Here I refresh carpets and other textiles on the patio.

The crew skied up to the local hill. Misty weather today.

Merry Xmas to Fosse too!

The xmas trees are set.

Ready for Xmas swim. And we are done, welcome Xmas to my cabin!

My entry to the printed media

My article about my activities onboard in my boat club's magazine is available here:
http://issuu.com/omsihteeri/docs/ryoppy_3_2015.

It is in Finnish, I hope I have time to provide you with translation during the Winter.

PS Here is a pic from the infamous leg from Vaasa to Pietarsaari - this is the only leg in our Oulu - Kalmar - Oulu tour in 2012-2015 I did not participate. Oh, I was appalled.

The Forsströms are back

Last weekend I had regular outing with the captain and the camera. We walked to the river, and we were happy to observe that the dippers, the Forsströms, had returned to spend the Winter with us. Welcome Fosse and the companion!

Remembering - All Saints Day

Under-snow Activity Studies

The First Snow

Yesterday, as usual, I travelled for the weekend to my cabin. I relaxed in my travel compartment. Suddenly as we took turn from road 20 to the direction of my cabin I realized there was something different. I immediately asked the first mate to set my safety belt to be able to roam on the backseat outside of the travel compartment. Btw, safety first! And then I could confirm my observation of the whole different vista: the snow had arrived. As we arrived at the cabin I could not wait the get outside to greet the white old cool friend, the Snow! And this year with confidence I gained last Winter with all the practice of roaming into snowy terrains at my property.

Tips how to have decent nap in Saturday noon

This weekend has been cloudy and little bit rainy too, temperature hovering slightly above zero. I have done my responsibilities checking the property frequently but I need to say that wet weather is not the best for exploring the woods and I rather enjoy the weekend resting inside in the warmth of my cabin. In such situation it is good to find something to entertain the crew outside the cabin to secure my daytime nap and my solution was to send them to get familiar with Pytkynharju trails.

Here is the report with pictures.

The crew started at Kellarilampi, covered by thick fog.

There is nice laavu and fireplace, with accessible pathways.

Then up to Pytkynharju, the majestic esker dominating
souther part of Syöte  neighborhoods.

Down to the Lauttalampi, having nice laavu and fireplace too. Here the
crew met very important first mate colleague with the family.

Here in the end of the lake Lauttalampi has already transformed to a bog.

From Lauttalampi to the river Pärjänjoki super-steep banks.

Down to the river there is a hedge like stone formation origin of which is
not yet known to the crew, manmade or natural. In between the
moss covered rocks the alder thrives.

Closer look.

Steep sand banks at Pärjänjoki. This made the crew thinking about Sun bathing
and skiing...

Back to the route to the lakes Lauttalampi and Kellarilampi.

Oh wait, the Sun came out. Lets take a pic again, with better light conditions :-)

And back to the Lauttalampi route. The crew tried to locate old tar pits
visible in the map but did not manage. The lovely spring feeding Lauttalampi
was found instead.

Emerald colored moss in a small bond in the bog.

Back to the Kellarilampi pathway.

After 9,5 km walk the fog had gone and unveiled Kellarilampi surroundings.

Meeting Aurora B at my Cabin's patio

I like aurora borealis photography because it happens in the dark and outdoors. I helped the captain with this photo session at my cabin patio. The night few weeks ago was really amazing as the geomagnetic activity was very high resulting these great sights!

The Summer is now over

Now I can state that this sailing season is closed. The vessel hibernates in Båtskärnäs and the huge pile of boat equipment on the hall floor of my lair on land is slowly but surely disappearing to its winter storage as the crew cleans and repairs it, under my careful supervision of course.

Sunday afternoon walk with a view, surprise ceps and handsome observers
